Mike Leonard

Hey there! My name is Mike and, like most guys, my interest in exercise stems back to my high school days. I started weight training with the same idea that most people my age at the time did, I was looking for validation from others, while not looking to fulfill any of my own interests. I let the opinions of others dictate what I should and shouldn’t do in and out of the gym, regardless if I agreed with it or not. As I progressed through university and certification courses, I started to realize that none of that even mattered, nor was it true either. Throughout my health and fitness journey I have done a lot of stupid things to try and improve my physique and performance; following random websites, taking advice from total strangers, and trying many different tactics over the last 12 years, to obtain a physique that was not unique to me. I realized that I was lost in the process of trying to figure it all on my own, being the ‘guy’ that knew everything, and never seeking out help along the way, I. Was. Wrong. Never having any guidance through those years has gotten me mixed results, but not quite what I was seeking. It wasn’t until I sought out mentor ship from others that I was heading in the direction I wanted. I have done bodybuilding competitions and placed 3rd in my second show before I decided that was not the route I wanted to keep pursuing.

I started to incorporate full body training since then and haven’t looked back. My experience with full body training has taught me that it has the ability to get in a great training stimulus, to elicit the change you’re looking for, while not taking up all of your free time. I have worked with coaches from various sources over the past couple years, Precision Nutrition, StrongFirst, etc. and have learned more from those than I ever did trying to tackle everything on my own. Accepting the fact that there is always more to learn has taught me to never stop pursuing more knowledge in the world of fitness, and to become the best possible coach. I graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelors in Exercise and Sport Science, and that was only the beginning of my journey to keep learning on how to serve you better as an individual, and how I can become a better coach. I hold certifications from the NSCA and Precision Nutrition as well. All that means is that I have taken the time to learn from top organizations in the field to help you reach your fitness and health goals. I am very passionate about learning from the top coaches in the world to help you achieve your goals as an individual.
